I came.
I saw.
I ate ... a LOT!
Pane e Salame has a wait and even though you're on vacation, likely with limited time ... or feeling hungry like RIGHT NOW, my advice is to learn patience grasshopper because Pane e Salame is WTW (worth the wait).
Of course, Pane e Salame is all about the Italian sandwiches (with fresh Italian bread) AND local Italian charcuterie meats. We came for both and, after tasting them, we ordered more ... a lot more!! The close quarters and busy vibe weren't the best, but the food was.

* Tagliere di Selezione di Salami Misti (5 stars - 9€)
Mixed Selection of Salami Cutting Board
*** Spicy salami
*** Lean Italian salami
*** Fatty local salami
*** Soppressata
* Tagliere di Cinghiale (5 stars - 10€)
Mixed Selection of Wild Boar

* Panini #X (4 stars - 6.50€)
The bread makes this sandwich amazing ... while the mix of Capocollo, Stracchino Italian Cheese, Tomato, Rocket Salad, and Truffle Cream are stellar. I'd choose a different sandwich next time because the strong truffle flavor overwhelmed the rest of the goodness.
They have a few house wine choices, but we opted for a bottle of Blauburgunder Pinot Nero wine - 2018 (19€) that paired nicely with the thin slices of meats although a tad too berry sweet.
So, ya, Pane e Salame is hyped and tiny, but, to be honest, we left super stuffed and satisfied. We were equally thankful that the line wasn't too long and sad that our tummies weren't bigger.
Before you go, plan for two things:
* to wait ... a lot
* to eat ... a lot -

How can food this amazing, in a city as expensive as Rome, be this inexpensive!?
Atmosphere (5): small little place with minimal seating that is all tightly grouped together. For what this little place is, it is perfect. I thoroughly enjoy the setting and the resulting conversations with the people sitting close by.
Service (5): it is order at the counter with the food being delivered to the table. It is quick, friendly, and in English (at least every time I've been here).
Food (5): outstanding in every respect ... especially considering how inexpensive this place is.
This place is definitely worth going out of your way to enjoy, but given its central location in Rome there is no need to go out of your way ... just stop in! -

Great selection of sandwiches.
Great staff.
Fresh ingredients.
Very close to trevi which is a bonus. You can order take away and eat next to the trevi fountain. -

Still exploring Rome and it's dinner time! Like good Yelp'ers do, we found this spot that has an average of 5 stars with 237 reviews. That's like unheard of! Plus, they have inexpensive wine! Wine is just so freaking cheap over here! So here's how good the experience was...
Atmosphere/Appearance: It's a cute lil' restaurant somewhere in Rome. Lol. I totally couldn't tell you where exactly we were. This place was packed and there were only a couple people waiting outside so we waited our turn patiently. A space opened up shortly and we were sat right near the entrance. It was so cute and quaint. There was exposed brick, small tables and dim yellow lighting. It was just unbelievable dining in a place like this with my fiancée on the other side of the world. It was so surreal. Moving on...
Service: Excellent. The servers were all attentive, helpful, sweet and they took amazing care of us.
Food: I went for something a little wild... the Mixed Wild Board Cutting Board. It came with 3 kinds of wild boar (mortadella with truffles, smoked ham and wild salami). They were okay. I wouldn't order it again, but it's not the restaurant's fault. I didn't know what I was doing and just wanted to try something exotic. I'd certainly return here to try other options indeed! This place seems to specialize in sandwiches, sliced meats and cheeses!
Value: CHEAP. I mean everything is so affordable. You definitely won't break your wallet here, even if you get wine! I think we paid €10.00 for wine. That's damn near like buying it out the stores in the states! Europe is doing it right! My meat/cheese board was also only €10.00. It was like an appetizer, but I think that's the point of this place... to have many small plates to try different things!
In conclusion I really loved it here. I could've hung out here all day drinking wine, eating cheese and snacking on sandwiches. -

Was wanting to go eat after visiting the beautiful Trevi Fountain and came across this place and so glad we did!! Very nice waiters and the chefs and the Carver! The food was wonderful as was the presentation ! We had some beers and stared off with the Caprice Platter lots of fresh tomatoes and tons of mozzarella cheese! Then we had the Salami Platter their were 4 different kinds of salami freshly carved in front of us nice touch!
